How to E-Mail a Zoom Code

Development Tools: RISE, ScreenPal, Canva

Time: 25 hours

Client: Himalayan Institute of Buffalo (HIB) Yoga Studio

Collaborators: Jackie Bogdan and Sapna Patel

Summary:  Using screen capture tutorials, this short course trains yoga studio volunteers how to email a Zoom code to a yoga student for online class viewing.

Challenge: The majority of HIB yoga studio volunteers are of retirement age and have minimal computer training.  Precious managerial time is used for simple computing tasks, including e-mailing misplaced Zoom Codes to students. HIB would like an easy and effective way to train volunteers to do this task and free up managerial time.

Solution: A brief and accessible RISE course to train HIB Volunteers through screen capture tutorials, and a supervised assessment with the volunteer manager.  Volunteers will be given a job aid to use during their assessment and on the job. Testing of the prototype course revealed the need to include basic computing skills in this course, such as copying and pasting.

Result: RISE course development was completed in May 2024 and will be implemented during HIB's next course registration cycle in Sept/Oct 2024. The expected result is a reduction in the number of managerial requests to send Zoom Codes by 50% during the first 2 weeks of the class registration cycle.
